Proceeding with the activities of the Academic Year 2011/2012, the New Business School Amsterdam has the pleasure of informing that the Opening of the Academic Year Ceremony will take place on September 8, at 13.30h, at De Duif (Prinsengracht 756, 1017 LD Amsterdam).
The event will have as key-note speakers: Mr. Rob Zuidema, Director HRM of Booking.com, having as speech theme: "Business Strategies and HRM@Booking.com"; and Mr. Fred Huibers, Partner of Haags Effekten Kantoor and lecturer at New Business School, Amsterdam, having as speech theme: "The Financial Crisis and its Effects on Entrepreneurship".
During the ceremony, the New Business School Amsterdam will announce the winners of the prizes for the Best Student-Run Company and Best Company Consultancy Report of the past year.
Rob Zuidema is HR Director of Booking.com, the leader in online Hotel Reservations. Booking.com grew in the last five years from less than 100 staff into more than 3000 today.
Rob studied Human Resources in Enschede and Sociology at the Amsterdam University. After his studies he held several HR roles in different companies like Dutch Public Broadcasting, Vodafone, Arcadis, Shell and Booking.com. The last 10 plus years in (international) management positions closely related to business strategy development and strategy execution.
Besides his role in Booking.com, Rob is founder and partner of deWerkkamer.com, a provider of co-working spaces in Amsterdam.
Fred Huibers started his career as fund manager at the Robeco and Rabobank. In 2002 he was appointed Global Head of Equity Capital Markets at ING. In 2007 he decided to become an entrepreneur and is now owner and Managing Partner of the investment firm HEK (Haags Effekten Kantoor) asset management. Fred was also nominated professor at TiasNimbas business school in Tilburg.
After finishing his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC, Fred attended the University of Louvain, where he received his Master of Business Administration degree. He received the PhD degree from the Tilburg University in Financial Economics.
