The New Business School, Amsterdam offers a so-called Foundation Year to students who are not directly admissible to the BA (Hons) Business & Specialism university degree. The course runs for one year, parallel to the degree programmes. Among those not directly admissible are holders of a Dutch HBO diploma or holders of an (international) diploma that falls short of the requirements of an International Baccalaureate.
The one year Foundation course aims to prepare the above mentioned candidates for an English-taught university-level education at the New Business School, Amsterdam. The first year at the New Business School, Amsterdam can be compared to a foundation level programme offered at most international universities. This first year aims at allowing students to enter at a university level.
For those candidates who wish to further develop their English proficiency, the New Business School, Amsterdam offers a summer school opportunity at NBS-partner University of Westminster in London for the duration of 6 weeks.
A successful completion of this Foundation Year is followed by the BA (Hons) Business Programme that is structured as follows.
The BA (Hons) Business programme of the New Business School allows students to follow a general business degree or specialise in one of five business functional areas: Creative Business & Entertainment Management, Business & Entrepreneurial Marketing, Business & Financial Management, Business & New Entrepreneurship and Business & Human Capital. The curriculum offers a balanced mix between a core of requirements and a variety of electives and is designed to allow flexibility for students to take coursework in areas of specific interest to them.
For students who opt for a BA (Hons) Business Specialism degree, the required core is extended with specialist compulsory and elective modules. The non-core modules in the General BA (Hons) Business are all electives, and can be selected from any of the elective modules available at the New Business School.
